We promote carbon emission reductions
Reducing methane emissions from the waste sector is one of the fastest ways to mitigate the effects of climate change in the short term.
This program aims to accelerate the implementation of methane mitigation projects in the waste sector and create enabling conditions for a sustained expansion of organic waste management technologies that bring significant environmental, economic and social benefits. It also aims to create a community of practice in the regions it supports, raise awareness of concrete actions that can reduce methane emissions, and build capacity.

Organizations
The Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP)
The Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP) is a non-governmental, research and non-profit organization established in 1985. CCAP’s mission is to support every step of climate action, from ambition to implementation.
A recognized world leader in climate policy and action, CCAP creates innovative, replicable climate solutions, strengthens capacities, and promotes best practices across the local, national, and international levels to accelerate the transition to a net-zero, climate resilient future.
CCAP was founded in 1985 and is based in Washington, DC.
ImplementaSur
ImplementaSur is a consulting firm founded in 2017 that provides expert advisory services services in climate management. It focuses on contributing to the design and implementation of sustainable and resilient practices to climate change in organizations of broad nature, both public sector agencies and private companies, helping them to transform the challenges posed by climate change into an opportunity to create value.
It also provides technical assistance in the evaluation and development of mitigation and adaptation projects, design of climate finance schemes, and development of climate policy analysis and recommendations.
Global Methane Hub
Global Methane Hub is the first coordinated approach to methane mitigation funding. Its focus is on three key sectors: energy, agriculture, and waste, which account for 96% of anthropogenic methane emissions. Its main objective is to support ambitious catalytic investments, establish the groundwork for long-term transformation of challenging sectors, and deliver quick results in sectors that are ready for immediate action.
With a global presence and based in Santiago, Chile, the Global Methane Hub is dedicated to addressing the methane issue worldwide.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is Canada’s lead federal department for strategic action on a wide range of environmental matters, including clean growth and climate change, preventing and managing pollution, conserving nature, and predicting weather and environmental conditions.
The Department focuses on the interdependence of environmental sustainability and economic well-being. ECCC works in partnership with provincial, territorial and municipal governments, Indigenous partners, and communities to deliver important programs and services that are essential to ensuring the health and well-being of Canadians and the environment in a manner that respects the Government of Canada’s commitment to openness, effectiveness and transparency in government.
Climate and Clean Air Coalition
CCAC is a voluntary partnership of over 160 governments, intergovernmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations founded in 2012.
The organization is the only international body working to reduce powerful and dangerous SLCPs – methane, black carbon, hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and tropospheric ozone – that drive both climate change and air pollution.
CCAC and its partners work together toward a common goal of reducing global warming in the near-term to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and support economic development, improved health and environmental and food security benefits.
