Sign up for the Home Composting Program in Guyana

In collaboration with members of the Engineering and Sanitation Department of the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development (MLGRD), the Recycle Organics Program is implementing a Home Composting Program in Guyana during the week of July 8th.

With support from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the Recycle Organics program aims to reduce methane emissions from the waste sector in Guyana.  Specifically, the pilot Home Composting program will support local communities across Guyana, creating significant environmental, economic and social benefits.

Home composting is the most cost-effective method to manage organic waste. Composting at home allows local communities to significantly and collectively reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills, which in turn, decreases methane emissions—the culprit behind nearly 45% of global warming today. Additionally, home composting enriches soil, promotes healthy plant growth, stores carbon and educates people on sustainable waste management.

Sign up now!

As part of the Home Composting program, participants will have the opportunity to receive home composting bins and equipment. Additionally, participants must attend a training session where they will learn valuable information on establishing and maintaining a successful composting system at home.

Do not miss the opportunity to learn more about the numerous benefits of home composting, gain valuable knowledge, and contribute to create a more sustainable future for Guyana.
