With support from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Recycle Organics will be hosting a pair of webinars this March showcasing innovative and successful waste management strategies used in both the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region, as well as the Pacific. Both webinars are open to the public and independent from one another, featuring different topics of discussion

About the webinars!

The first webinar, titled “Unveiling Success in Organic Waste Management,” will take place on March 13 and highlights case studies and waste management strategies currently being implemented in Small Island Developing States (SIDS), with a particular focus on the Pacific region. The next webinar, titled “How to Incentivize Separation at the Source: Successful Strategies for Managing Organic Waste,” will be held a week later on March 20 and features speakers from Brazil and Grenada to discuss behavioral changes when it comes to managing organic waste, effective outreach initiatives and overcoming challenges. The Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP) and ImplementaSur will be moderating and coordinating each webinar.

Find the details for each webinar below and register today! Please note that you must register for each individual webinar separately if you would like to attend both and that registering for one will not grant you access to the other.

This webinar will showcase successful case studies and examples of organic waste management initiatives in Small Island Developing States (SIDS), while sharing relevant information on technologies for organic waste treatment. The goal is to provide recommendations, highlight benefits and discuss potential remaining barriers on this topic. Through this knowledge-sharing space, the webinar seeks to bring the implementation of organic waste management initiatives closer to stakeholders and ultimately contribute to the successful implementation of such initiatives in more SIDS.

This webinar will present a set of best practices from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to showcase successful and innovative waste management strategies, focusing on the organic fraction of waste, separation at the source and the power of effective communication outreach. Some of the main challenges in expanding this practice include generating a culture of source separation, maintaining the engagement of waste generators over time and ensuring that the organic waste stream is separated correctly. The webinar will outline a set of general strategies and present two specific case studies/examples regarding innovative solutions in outreach and raising awareness.
